My photo of Maximillian Mueller was selected for the new Paragon Sports website. The shot was originally for an interview I did with the artist and am excited to have it on representing their skateboard department.
It's with a heavy heart I had to write this post. Please stop by between now and the 22nd to show your support to the Oates Family. Click the image to visit the full article.

A new skate shop recently opened in Greenpoint Brooklyn. East River Skate Shop is located at 86 Greenpoint Avenue just down the block from House of Vans and next to the Pencil Factory. We stopped by to check it out and interviewed the owner/skateboarder Richard Oates.
Originally from Long Island and a former chef at the popular NYC restaurant Freemans, Richard has been skateboarding since he was a kid. Recently after starting a family he’s following his dream to own & operate his own skate shop. He carries local brands like Hopps, SHUT, 5Boro, Fairweather and Northern Company along with other selective popular brands. The shop itself includes a library style deck wall and ramp/box inspired tables and shelves. Look closely and you’ll see trucks installed on the walls functioning as shirt racks. Here’s a first look at the shop in our NYSB exclusive interview with Richard embedded below followed with some additional photos.
The Boardr AM contest series stopped at Coleman/LES skate park this past weekend. Talent was throwing down throughout the whole park. Double-set tricks became the norm towards the finals. First place winner Yoshi Tanenbaum gets to compete against other series winners [Jon Cosentino (LA), Jagger Eaton (Houston), Jamie Foy (Tampa), and Dustin Blauvelt (Detroit)] for a chance to skate in the X-Games. Check the video recap and photos below.
Some photos from the opening of Hang it or Skate it, curated by Savior ElMundo, Terry Nelson, and Frankie Velez. The exhibition included artwork from a group of New York City artists, illustrators and graffiti artists. Each artist explored using skateboards as art pieces and incorporated them into 3d works that pushed the limits of skate-related art.
Some photos from last weeks KCDC x 5Boro art & photo show featuring work by Stefan Marx, Zander Taketomo, Allen Ying, Akiko Higuchi and Pep Kim.
